A Mechanic for Your Health

I was inspired to write this post after a long conversation that I had last night with a now former Train Insane member. It seems that this person could not see the point in participating in a program where he was finishing last every time. To him it made more sense to train on his own until he got in better shape. I realized that this was somewhat of a common thought among people starting exercise programs for the first time. The problem with this is that if you are already out of shape, and have been that way for quite some time, and you have tried unsuccessfully in the past to fix it, what makes you think that you can get there on your own? To me this concept makes absolutely NO SENSE. Yet time and time again I hear form people "As soon as I lose 10lbs I am going to join your boot camp", or "As soon ans I get in better shape I will join." To me that is like saying as soon as I feel better I am going to go see a doctor. Sounds kind of backwards doesn't it? If you are sick, you go to the doctor, they give you some medicine and you get better. You don't go into your kitchen and try to make your own medicine out of products in your kitchen right? The same is true when it comes to fitness. If you are out of shape and need to improve your fitness why would you try to "make your own medicine?" It breaks down to this, could you get there on your own if you buckled down and really made it
a priority? Absolutely. Could you also fix the transmission in your car if you read all the books and devoted all your spare time to learning how? You bet. But in the same way that a mechanic would save you both time and frustration, a fit pro would get you there faster, and improve your chances of success. I know that not many of you would attempt to fix your own transmission and would not think twice about taking it to a mechanic. Why then would you hesitate to turn your health and body over to a professional? Is your health not at least as important as your car? Okay I am done venting, i hope that you were all able to take something away from this. Remember, you all have the ability to reach your destination, but don't be afraid to ask for directions.

Are YOU giving up on your dream?

Achieve Your Goals!

This is a GREAT video that I found on setting and achieving your goals. It is a little bit long, but it has some really good information. Just remember, the road to the top is always uphill. Put some of these tips into practice, and watch what happens.

Its Supposed to be Hard!!!

Occasionally Aaron and I post workout videos for all of you. This is not to show off (most of the time) rather to show you all that we practice what we preach. We don't just come up with crazy workouts and run you through them, most of the time they are a spin off of a workout we have done that week. Just want you all to know that no matter if you are the coach or the student there is no substitute for sweat, and hard work....enjoy!

SUMMER IS HERE

As I sit here after finishing another great Saturday of Train Insane Boot Camp, I can't stop thinking about how summer is basically here. I was telling one of my friends that couldn't wait for summer to get here and head to the beach, and the river, and all the other summer activities. He was less enthusiastic than I was, and said, "Just another season man." JUST ANOTHER SEASON? It hit me that so many people don't get to fully experience summer. Now to most people summer is just another month in their endless world of 9 to 5 Monday through Friday life. The biggest reason that people don't enjoy summer is because they are not comfortable with their bodies. Lets face it, summer is the month when if you got you flaunt it, but if you don't you hide it. Not a year goes by that I don't hear someone say that this summer they are gonna be in the best shape ever and strut their stuff at the beach, and yada yada yada. Yet year after year I see no change in their bodies or attitudes toward summer. I wish that I could let these people feel for just one day what is like to be in shape and confident in your body. That is all it would take for them to see how much life they are missing out on. I challenge all of you to take a look at yourself and as these 3 questions 1. Am I happy with the way I look? 2. Is my current physique keeping me from experiencing life? 3. What is keeping me from achieving the body I have always wanted? If we are all being honest, I know the answers might sting a little. I am here to tell you that it is never too late to take control of your life and make a change. Make a commitment to yourself that you will not let one more summer pass without being able to go to the beach, a pool party, or the river with confidence. That you will no longer shy away from any events where you may have to wear a swim suite. Instead grab ahold of your life, make a fitness plan, and DON'T STOP till you reach it!! Best of Luck!!!

IT AINT EASY

I have a little bit of a bone to pick with many of the "fitness experts"
these days. I am SO tired of hearing about the latest and
greatest "short cut" to fitness. How all you need is this pill
or gadget, or even a magic exercise. The truth of the matter
IT AINT EASY to get in shape. Unfortunately in order for these
people to sell their crappy products, they have to constantly
convince you that it is easy to be fit. They know that the only way
for them to get you to buy their ridiculous product is to make it seem like they have this BIG SECRET that they will share
with you. Well I am here to tell you that being fit and in shape
is anything but easy. However, that does not mean that you are
forever doomed to be soft and flabby. If you are willing to commit
to a program, and truly put in the work, you CAN get there. I am
here to tell you that the journey to any goal is always UPHILL. That
is what makes the top so satisfying. So the way I see it you have
2 choices. You can keep hoping that one of these TV guys has a magic pill or gadget (trust me they don't) and waste who knows how much money.Or you can admit to yourself that it is going to be an uphill journey put on your gym shoes and GET AFTER IT!!! I will see you at the TOP.
